Unlike my iPhone, I did not come into this world pre-installed with maps, internet applications, or a digital compass. More often, my discernible lack of direction has lead to road trips that have yet to involve less than "a few" U-turns and a scolding or two from Siri. I side with the cliché "not all who wander are lost,” yet, I have simultaneously found myself a rescue statistic in more instances than I'd like to admit. As an avid runner, adventure seeker, and nature infatuate (run/walk/crawl/stumble)-ing through early adulthood, I am adjusting to life outside of textbook answers, and barely beginning to take life seriously, and yet not so seriously, at the same time.

We are not gifted the exact knowledge of our purpose here on Earth, but we do have the ability to make choices. These choices add up to create uniquely tailored paths that take us toward or away from our goals and desires. Through the winding roads and crooked paths, we are destined to hit inevitable “forks,” that continually test our courage to pursue. Sometimes the course is bumpy, sometimes it evens out, sometimes it circles back, and other times it halts to a “dead end.” It may intersect, or you may find that your route has been running parallel to another all along. At times you will feel lost...and it will seem as though you are being guided by a wayward compass.

You may think, "Wouldn’t it be easier if we were born with a personalized map that detailed the characteristics of who you are or what you are going to become? It would list intricate directions and the quickest routes, while flagging the courses to avoid.”

Yes. That’s exactly what it would be: Easy. Mundane. Boring.

The Wayward Compass is inspired by The Journey. It is a place to document the people, places, and moments that ignite my internal spark. It’s about sharing the rebellious strides that have carried me across finish lines, concrete strands, paved highways, and everywhere in between. I want to  remember the little steps that got me to big places, and the butterfly sensations that fueled my heart along the way. It’s about finding clarity outside your comfort zone, learning to be present, and appreciating the laughs and tears that result from our greatest junctures. While it is frightening to feel lost, it is fatal to remain stagnant. This is my journey. Join the adventure by way of The Wayward Compass.

To the fearless dreamers, inquisitive soul searchers, stead-fast runners, or the curious passerby:

"I whole-heartedly invite you to stray from seclusion and transcend new horizons with me. Together we will enhance our resilience, break boundaries, overcome weakness, seek and discover. We will climb mountains, run marathons, trample trails, and forsake our fears . Let us step forward each day with ambitious eyes and humbled hearts."
